Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi has asked religious leaders and Kenyans at large to pray for President Uhuru Kenyatta to overcome stress ahead of the next general election.
Speaking at his office on Wednesday, Kingi said Uhuru’s recent response to governors and other leaders is worrying.
“The recent outbursts demonstrates that he might be under some sort of stress. He needs prayers to overcome his stress,” said Kingi, as quoted by Baraka FM.
The governor’s plea comes after Uhuru lashed out at Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho telling him to stop following him around.
"Tufuatane na yeye tufanye nini? Mimi sio bibi yake, mimi sina haja na yeye (Why should we always follow each other around? What for! I am not his wife and I don't need him)," said Uhuru during the launch of the Mtongwe Ferry on Monday.
The governor also urged the Head of State to differentiate between matters development and politics whenever he visits the region.
Kingi and Joho have been at loggerheads with the Jubilee administration after the duo accused the President of hijacking Coast projects as he seeks a second term in office.
