Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi has appealed to communities at the Coast to stay united and coexist peacefully ahead of the 2017 polls.
Speaking on Thursday in Magarini Ward, Kingi further appealed to political leaders in the region to avoid criticizing each other in public rallies and instead remain united.
"I also want to call upon all Coastal communities to unite and speak with one voice. It is worth noting that prominent leaders like Cord principal Raila Odinga are who they are today because their people stood with them through thick and thin," he noted.
"It is disheartening to see Coastal leaders throwing jabs at each other during rallies instead of building one another and preaching unity to our people," he added.
The governor also asserted his government's commitment to improving the economic welfare of the youth, women and special interest groups.
"My administration is giving special focus to youth, women and all marginalized groups to stimulate all round development in Kilifi and ensure we empower our people for prosperity," he said.
