Mombasa Deputy Governor Dr William Kingi on Thursday attended the launch of Jumuiya ya Kaunti za Pwani (JKP) Mainstreaming and Aligning of CIDPs with Jumuiya 2030 and Kenya Vision 2030 at the Voi Wildlife Lodge, Taita Taveta County.
He said the County Integrated Development Plans offer Coast residents an opportunity to install the core of the JKP agenda in the everyday plans of the Counties.
"We must align the sectoral plans in every County with the overall strategies of the JKP and the Kenya Vision 2030," he said.
"Now we can anchor the JKP plans and strategies into the operational plans of the Counties through the CIDPs," added Dr Kingi.
Going forward, the DG indicated the JKP initiative should be driven by the various County government departments to ensure actual projects that impact the people are implemented.
He further thanked USAID through the AHADI programme for supporting JKP member counties to come up with harmonized plans in all the six counties.
"It is an opportunity we will seize with our hands, hearts and minds. It is time we commit some of the resources available to the Counties to implement the key sectoral plans with focus on food security and health."
"Special thanks to FAO and all those who have made it possible for the JKP to grow to this level," added Kingi.
