Opposition party ODM, has been dealt a blow in the Coast region following the exit of Kilifi Deputy Governor Kamto Mwakombo.
Mwakombo announced his defection on Saturday, joining the ruling Jubilee Party where he is reportedly set to deputize Kilifi North MP Gideon Mung'aro who is eying the Kilifi governor seat.Mwakombo claimed that he had suffered under governor Amason Kingi's administration, further accusing the latter of incompetence and misappropriation of county funds.“I suffered under Governor Kingi and I have now decided to move out of ODM. Most people ask why I did not leave a long time ago if I was being frustrated. I had to stay so that I could get enough evidence about the rot going on in Kilifi County. I now have a lot of information and I am ready to challenge any of the leaders in Kingi’s government in an open forum,” said Mwakombo, as quoted by the Star.Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya, who also quit the Opposition for Jubilee Party ,received Mwakombo to the party at Dr Kraph grounds in Rabai.
