According to The Star, Adu Kamale, where Governor Amason Kingi’s village home is located, has never had piped water since the nation gained independence in 1963.

The county government of Kilifi allocated Sh37 Million towards the project, in line with the pledge the governor made in 2013.

Kingi, who is said to have been born and raised in the village, recalled how tough it was growing up without water.

"We lived a tough life, leaving school at 4 pm to search for water. During our election, I made a commitment to ensure piped water is accessible here," he said, as quoted by the daily.

The 250,000-litre reservoir is expected to be supplied with water from six boreholes located in different parts of the county.

The outspoken governor further told residents that he had fulfilled his pre-election pledges including upgrading of impassable roads and construction of a dispensary.

The project launch was attended by Senator Stewart Madzayo, MCAs and local leaders.
