Mombasa Governor-elect Hassan Joho has lauded his Kilifi counterpart Amason Kingi’s win in the just-concluded general election.

According to Joho, Kingi’s landslide win was proof that the region is an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party zone and will not shift, the Nation has reported.Kingi and Joho beat their rivals who included Jubilee Party candidates in the recent polls by wide margins to retain their seats as county bosses.Joho made the remarks during Governor Kingi’s swearing-in ceremony at the Karisa Maitha Grounds in Kilifi town on Monday.On his part, Kingi revealed that he has cast his eyes on the presidency in 2022, but will first go on a retreat with Joho to discuss the matter. Joho has already announced his presidential ambitions for 2022.“From the retreat, we shall come out with one voice which we shall relay to the people of Kilifi and the Coast region as a whole,” said Kingi.“What he has told you is true. We're so close and we all want to be in the same government in 2022. Expect a declaration from us soon,” added Joho.Kingi and his deputy, Gideon Saburi were sworn in by Lady Justice Margaret Mwangi and Kilifi Senior Resident magistrate Robinson Ondiek.In attendance were all the seven MPs from Kilifi County as well as Mvita MP-elect Abdulswamad Ali, Mishi Mboko (Likoni), Badi Twalib of Jomvu and Changamwe ‘s Omar Mwinyi.
