The Directorate of Criminal Investigations chief George Kinoti has ordered for an audit of Kenyatta National Hospital security systems.
This follows allegations of sexual assault of women at the maternity wing.
Kinoti said the team, headed by an Assistant Inspector General of Police, had been tasked to establish how the hospital mitigates risk threats and the safety of patients, staff and visitors.
The team, which is expected to hand in its report on Wednesday.
“The team has firm instructions to audit the hospital’s receiving, reporting and handling of complaints, and in case of any inadequacy, we shall provide the facility with the necessary advice,” Kinoti told People Daily on phone.
Kinoti warned that should investigations show that the claims of sexual attacks at the facility had been exaggerated, those responsible would face the law.
