Nakuru residents have hit out at Nakuru County Governor Kinuthia Mbugua for 'wasting' public resources in advertising for the Saturday Prayer rally called by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Residents claim that the hiring of dancers and trailers for the advertisement of the rally, which is currently being spearheaded by musician Ben Githae, was not necessary.
Head of Public Service Board Communication Department Peter Mbae, who is hosting the caravan, said that the idea was to mobilize people to show up for the event at Afraha stadium.
On Monday, the trailer visited Heshima, Maili Sita, Maili Kumi, Bahati, Kabazi, Subukia, Then Solai, Kamukunji, Kitur then back to town.
On Tuesday it will tour Kuresoi North and South while on Thursday it will be Naivasha and Gilgil. It will finally end in Njoro, Molo and Rongai.
Among the Musicians expected to perform are Ben Githae and Lillian Rotich.
“Who does not know about the meeting? The radios and TVs have been talking about this meeting since the president announced it on his facebook account. Why should the governor use millions to advertise the same?" Benard Kibet said.
Phillip Mungai said that Kinuthia was using the meeting as a means to win favor over the residents, who already were in bad terms with him.
“He has wasted too much money in his Gavana Mtaani meeting and the fact that he can continue to use unaccounted cash is unfortunate?” he added.
