Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has appealed to the rural youth in the county to acquire relevant documents that they meet minimum requirements for various job opportunites.
The county boss who was speaking in Bahati Ward on Friday while inspecting projects funded by the county government cited numerous job opportunities that were awaiting youths in the county that require academic documents and national identity cards.
"We have key projects in Nakuru, Naivasha, Molo and Olengruone that have various opportunities like geothermal plants. Youths should, therefore work hard and get more education as well as register for their ID cards to fit into these jobs," Mbugua said.
The governor also explained that lack of necessary documents has largely barred the youth especially in rural areas from getting job opportunities.
Mbugua also took the opportunity to advise the youth and women in the county to form and register investment groups and utilise revolving funds from the county and National Government to better their livelihoods.
"As a county we have partnered with local banks to fund investment groups formed by women and the youth. Through this, we will be able to finance the groups' projects by offering loans. It is, therefore, important that women and the youth to form more groups to receive such benefits," he urged.
