Nakuru governor Kinuthia Mbugua has held a consultative meeting with the youth to deliberate on issues affecting them as well as their role in county and state building.
Addressing the youth on Thursday morning, Mbugua emphasised the need for the youth to take part in administration and governance by airing their views and raising the issues affecting them.
“The main objective of this meeting is to provide a platform for you to raise all issues affecting you. This is in preparation for a more comprehensive meeting with my government through the executive where we will table the issues raised and address them promptly,” Kinuthia said.
Kinuthia promised his commitment to addressing those issues in a bid to incorporate the youth in key decision making processes and representation of their views in the government.
“I assure Nakuru youth that we will be ready to respond and act on all the issues raised as we work towards involving all youth in the county development agenda,” Kinuthia assured.
Led by their chairman Victor Ngatia, the youth raised a myriad of issues to the governor for redress.
“We would like to cite the challenge of representation of the youth in key leadership positions in the county government. Also, the 30 percent allotment of tenders to the youth and youth empowerment,” he said.
He added, “By addressing these issues, the youth will feel a sense of representation in the government and therefore provide a solution to other underlying issues.”
Kinuthia was in the company of other county leaders including county assembly speaker Susan Kihika, several MCAs, and CECs among other officials from the executive.
