Nakuru Governor, Kinuthia Mbugua has downplayed the recent incident where he was heckled by residents during the President's visit on Thursday.
Speaking on Saturday at Naivasha, the governor cited the incident as a scheme used by his political opponents which cannot deter him from service.
"To those who think that is how to politic, let them be informed that those times are long gone. I urge them to relax and give me time to serve my electorate,", said the governor.
He said that in 2017, people of Nakuru shall decide whom to lead them and this is not the time for divisive politics.
"2017 is not far. I welcome everyone to challenge me on the ballot but don't waste your energy causing disharmony among the people of Nakuru.Everyone shall be charged in what he has done for the people that gave them their votes," Kinuthia said.
The governor was on Thursday forced to cut short his speech after the crowd booed him in the presence the Head of State along Kenyatta Avenue.
The Deputy President had to intervene to contain the situation. The Governor has been accused by traders of mishandling them in his bid to clean up the town.
