Nakuru county boss Lee Kinyanjui has flagged off a Sh35 million road rehabilitation campaign across the county.

In a programme dubbed 'Boresha Barabara', Kinyanjui said his administration plans to rehabilitate 1,600kms of feeder roads in all 11 sub-counties in four months.

"The project is expected to be completed in 16 weeks where we aim to upgrade 30kms of roads in each of the 55 wards," he said.

Kinyanjui said that he will not involve contractors competing for tenders but instead will use county's manpower and machinery to construct and repair the roads.

"The county has earth movers, bulldozers, and tippers that are lying idle in yards. We want to make use of that machinery that cost the county government Sh200 million," the governor said.

Kinyanjui spoke during the launch of the road development programme at Waseges Ward in Lower Solai on Tuesday.
