The County Government of Nakuru under the leadership of Lee Kinyanjui, will start the construction of a better drainage system in Gilgil.

Speaking at a fundraiser in Gilgil PCEA church on Sunday, where a total of Sh3.1 million was raised, the county chief of staff Njoroge Gichuhi said the move is aimed at ending the drainage problems in the town.

"The county government will next week start working on the drainage systems at Gilgil town. This is aimed at remedying the drainage challenges of the town,” Njoroge said.

The fund drive event was graced by Governor Lee Kinyanjui, personal assistant James Mwaura, Nakuru county director of political affairs Beatrice Nyawira and Gilgil ward MCA Jane wangui Ngugi.

The county government officials also said that the county government will distribute a total of 20,000 avocado seedling across the county with each household getting 25 seedlings.

They equally encouraged the residents to take up pyrethrum growing seriously because the government is keen on reviving the sector.

This will help to boost the economy of the county and also enable every household earn an extra income.
