A training camp for athletes is set to be constructed in Nakuru County following the swearing in ceremony of Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui.

According to Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui, the camp will help improve sports within the county.

Kinyanjui added that Kenringet is the home of world reknowned athletes using 1,500 metres champion Faith Chepngetich as an example.

"Out of five Kenyan athletes who topped the recently concluded Athletics in London, two come from Keringet. I promise to support several of them who are training there by setting up a modern training camp," the governor said as reported by The Star.

The training ground will be built with the aim of nurturing more talent by allowing youth to display their talents.

According to Keringet athletics camp coach Vincent Langat Keringet has more than 200 runners.

"It is true that our athletes have mapped this country without our support. I am happy that our administration will support them with appropriate training facilities"," deputy governor Erick Korir said.
