Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui has reiterated the government‘s commitment towards ensuring quality health service.
Speaking during this year’s Madaraka Day Celebrations at Afraha Stadium, Kinyanjui said the county has put in place mechanisms to ensure expansion of health facilities in sub-counties.
“As a county we have put in place enough funds to ensure that our health facilities are better to offer quality services. Already we have commenced expansion of facilities in sub-counties besides the PGH,” he said.
On the recent disasters in Nakuru including the Solai Dam tragedy, Kinyanjui said county officials have ensured all dams that pose danger to the people are drained.
While noting that the rains have had a negative impact in various parts of the county including the CBD, Kinyanjui said the drainage issue will be addressed in the next financial year.
The county boss also revealed that the county is focused on planting a million trees per year and called on residents to embrace the same.
“We have a big responsibility to safeguard our environment and as a county we have a program rolled out to ensure that we plant a million trees every year. Let us all work in collaboration on the same,” he said.
On his part, Nakuru Deputy Governor Dr.Erick Korir called on Nakuru residents to ensure they live by the spirit of the forefathers who wanted to ensure social ills are addressed.
He challenged county staff to ensure they serve diligently and avert issues such as corruption that may lead to suffering of the citizens.
“Those given opportunity to serve should ensure that they serve diligently and avert what might lead to the suffering of taxpayers,” he said.
