Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui scored a major political victory after the county assembly amended a report by the Appointments Committee to include four nominees who were found “unfit to serve” upon vetting.
In the session, which Speaker Maina Kairu termed as historic, was a culmination of days of lobbying whereby Kinyanjui impressed upon the MCAs to 'put the interests of the county first' by approving the cabinet list.
It appears also that pressure from members of the public had influenced the latest move by the MCAs with Speaker Kairu accusing social media users of casting aspersions against members and engaging in what amounts to harassment.
Residents had accused the committee of being used to frustrate Kinyanjui’s nascent administration, something he vehemently denied.
"While I appreciate the role of social media in positively shaping the society, it is being used to antagonize elected leaders," Kairo said
