The County Government of Nakuru, under the stewardship of Governor Lee Kinyanjui, has initiated a 2,000 units affordable housing project in Naivasha.
Kinyanjui attended a meeting of stakeholder's forum for affordable housing project at Naivasha.
The meeting was graced by Nakuru CEC for Lands Housing and Physical Planning Eng. Lucy Kariuki and World bank officials.
He said that Naivasha is a region experiencing a diverse growth in hospitality industry and also home to flower farms that employ hundreds of people.
"Nakuru County supports the housing project because we are aware that if the issue of housing is not addressed, we will in the near future have hotels facing informal settlements," Kinyanjui said.
"Also, we hope local companies will benefit and locals will be employed during construction of the houses to boost the local economy," he added.
Kinyanjui said the project will offer housing to the low income earners.
