Confirming the incident Tala assistant chief, Francis Mulinge, said that he alerted the police after he saw him staggering from a bar in the town.

"The student was very drunk and even staggering while in school uniform. I alerted the police who came and took him to Tala police post,” said Mulinge.

Mulinge said that he will not seat and watch children develop bad habits.

“I have to take action now because this are the people who will become drug and alcohol addicts, hence being a bother to the society,” notes Mulinge.

Kinyui boys Secondary school principal, John Kyeva, while addressing the press outside Tala Police post after the incident said that he was not responsible for the boys’ behavior, since he was out of school compound when caught only that he was in school uniform.

“I cannot intervene or explain the situation around which the boy was arrested while drunk because at that time he was not in my hands,” said Kyeva adding that the school was out for midterm break.

The principal said it is upon the boy's parent to deal with the case since at that time he was in their hands.

A section of parents from the school has however, urged the school management to be providing their students with transport services using the school bus during opening and mid term breaks so as to prevent students from loitering the town.
