Kigoro MCA Hon Samwel Apoko has questioned the criteria used to absorb youths to NYS in Kisii County that has seen youths from certain constituency ‘favoured’.
Speaking at Kiogoro market on Wednesday, Apoko said the criteria was opaque, discriminatory and a total violation of human rights.
He alleged that most youths who had been absorbed to clean Kisii town and its environs were from Kitutu Chache South Constituency, despite most of the town located in his native Nyaribari Chache constituency.
“I have been seeing youths cleaning Kisii town wearing NYS T-Shirts and through my thorough investigations, I have come to establish that they come from the neighboring Kitutu- Chache North. As elected leaders, we ought to be consulted but no consultation was done,” he said.
Apoko urged the Ministry of Devolution under the CS Hon Ann Waiguru to reveal the theory behind the selective recruitment, failure to which he would table a motion of no confidence to the County assembly.
“The Ministry of Devolution has an obligation to explain to us when the appointment was done, whether residents were notified and failure to which, I will table motion of no confidence with the recruitment in the Assembly,” he said.
His sentiments were supported by Chitago –Borabu ward MCA Hon. Albert Oino, who demanded the Ministry of Devolution to rectify the situation or face dire consequences from the house.
