Geoffrey Kiplagat might find it hard to convince the tribunal investigating the alleged misconduct of Judge Tunoi that he was awarded the money to take to Governor Evans Kidero as a bribe.
The tribunal which was appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta and chaired by Judge Sharad Rao, continued on Wednesday. Appearing before the tribunal was Kidero’s personal assistant, John Osogo who said that Kiplagat had applied for a job at City Hall as the director of communication but failed to produce his academic certificates.
Osogo denied allegations that he was privy to bribery allegations facing Justice Philip Tunoi. The tribunal heard that the Kiplagat had applied for the said post although it did not exist. His lawyer also asked the tribunal to give him time to examine Kiplagat but he was not allowed to do so by the tribunal.
Judge Tunoi is accused of receiving a bribe from Kidero to help him deliver judgment favouring him in a case filled by Ferdinand Waititu who was challenging the election of Kidero as Nairobi governor. Kidero, however, maintains that he did not bribe to be in office.
