Uchumi supermarket CEO Julius Kipngetich [Photo/Business Today]Uchumi supermarket CEO Julius Kipngetich has exited the company after two years of being appointed to head the retailer.
In the meantime the board has chosen chief finance officer Mohamed Ahmed as a temporary replacement while the search for a possible successor.
"The board has accepted with reluctance the resignation of Kipngetich with effect November 30 to pursue interests," chairperson Catherine Ngahu said in a statement on Wednesday as reported by The Star.
Ngahu went on the acknowledge Kipngetich for his service to the company while also wishing him well with his future endeavors.
Kipngetich served as the chief operating officer at Equity Group Holdings Limited from October 2012 to September 2015 prior to joining Uchumi.
He has a master’s degree in Business Administration and Bachelors of Commerce degree from the University of Nairobi.
Earlier this year Uchumi Supermarket employees went on strike demanding that they receive their salaries for the months of May and June while also calling for the dismissal of Kipngetich.
The management responded by threatening the employees with dismissal and as a result all operations within the supermarket were paralysed.
