Government spokesperson Eric Kiraithe has warned bloggers against announcing fake election results.

Kiraithe said such an action is unlawful since it is only the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) which is mandated by the constitution to transmit and relay the official poll results.

“There are many fraudulent sites claiming to be relaying results be from the IEBC which are conflicting and annoying, whose intent is to confuse Kenyans,” said Kiraithe during an interview on KBC TV on Tuesday night.

He noted that already, the electoral body was undertaking its responsibilities as outlined in the law by relaying results in an open and transparent manner.

He urged the public not to be hoodwinked by such fraudulent sites, and instead log onto the official IEBC website or otherwise, get the information from accredited media.

The spokesperson at the same time urged Kenyans to uphold the law in their endeavours.

He said an election, like any other contest, has winners and losers, noting that life must go on after the polls.
