The government Spokesperson Eric Keraithe has warned the NASA team that they will not be allowed to demonstrate in Nairobi.
The oppositions’ demonstrations to force out IEBC commissioners are planned for today, Friday.
According to Kiraithe, the demos have a distraction of business in the CBD, with many business forced to close shops for fear of the demos turning violent.
“Considering the welfare of the greatest majority of the citizens, as government we are opposed to these demonstrations,” he said on Thursday.
“Instead of demonstrations during kiosks are burnt and businesses disrupted, hold rallies to tell Kenyans the programmes you have, to encourage those who have continued investing to provide mwananchi products and services such as affordable decent shelter for those in informal employment,” he added.
He further accused NASA of holding the country at ransom, hurting the economy in the processs.
“As we emphasize that it is your right to participate in such demonstrations, we want citizens to know that for over six months now, the economy has greatly slowed down and as a country, we cannot afford this trend.”
The coalition has been pushing for the ouster of CEO Ezra Chiloba, and implementation of other reforms before holding the October 26 elections.
