Former Central Imenti legislator Gitobu Imanyara has said the Senator made a big mistake in his move to dissolve Alliance Party of Kenya otherwise dubbed Bus.

Imanyara, who is also seeking the Imenti Central MP seat on Maendeleo Chap Chap said besides the political mistake, Kiraitu is of age to unseat Meru Governor Peter Munya.

The lawyer argues that Meru people might easily re-elect Governor Munya because he has a political base (Party of National Unity) that residents can ride on as their political vehicle.

The former MP told The Star that “Merus no longer trust him because he is greedy for power.”

Kiraitu is reportedly on Njuri Nceke radar for allegedly breaching a regional MoU agreed on by Meru leaders.

According to the said MoU the senatorial seat was to be held by a person from the Imenti sub-tribe for 10 years whereas the governor’s post was to be held by a representative from Tigania for the same duration.

A recent Infotrak poll places the incumbent ahead with a 41.4 percent of votes as Murungi trails with a 29 percent of the votes cast.
