Meru Governor Peter Munya has been accused of hiring goons to heckle Senator Kiraitu Murungi during the visit by President Uhuru Kenyatta over the weekend.
According to Kiraitu, Munya has been ferrying youths to block him from campaigning in Igembe.
"If you want honey you cannot fear being stung by the bees, so I will not relent in my quest to campaign in Igembe,' Kiraitu said.
Both leaders have been engaged in a war of words and have occasionally clashed in public as they gear up for the battle of Meru County top job.
Kiraitu who spoke on Sunday at his home said he will not be cowed by threats by Munya.
But speaking on Monday at Kinoru Stadium, Munya denied the claims by the Senator.
"They told me to keep off the Presidential tour and I did exactly that. I even went to the gym instead. Kiraitu's popularity was confirmed because everywhere they went with the President Uhuru attempts to endorse him hit a snug," Munya said.
