Meru Senator Kiraitu Murungi has accused governor Peter Munya of running the county's economy down, despite the heavy funding from the National treasury.
Speaking on Monday shortly after launching his manifesto, the lawmaker urged locals to reject Munya during the forthcoming polls, and instead elect him as the County chief.
“Munya must go because the current county government has been characterised by intellectual bankruptcy, mediocrity and poverty of ideas,” he said.
“The county government is totally disconnected and alienated from the agenda and needs [of the people], despite the enormous resources pumped into it for the last four years," he added.
He pledged to radically transform the county's infrastructure should he get reelected.
“We will ensure resources are distributed equitably and fairly. I want to make Meru a model county in democratic participation, governance and development,” he said.
