Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi has expressed his sincere gratitude to President Uhuru Kenyatta for appointing former Governor Peter Munya and Prof Margret Kobia to the Cabinet.
He also appreciate Kenyatta for appointing the immediate former Lands Cabinet Secretary Prof Jacob Kaimenyi as Kenya's ambassador at UNESCO in Paris, France.
"The appointments are a great honour to the Meru Community and I thank the president for the gesture. He and his deputy William Ruto have proven their loyalty to the people of Meru," Kiraitu said on Saturday after the Friday appointments.
Prof Kobia was appointed as Public Service and Youth Affairs CS while Munya was appointed the Ministry of East African Community and Northern Corridor Development Cabinet Secretary.
"I wish to therefore take this early opportunity to congratulate former Governor, Peter Munya and Prof Kobia for their appointments to the Cabinet. I extend similar congratulations to Prof Kaimenyi for his new posting. I wish them well and urge them to join us as we endeavour to Make Meru Great!" said Murungi in a statement on Saturday.
"I have no doubts that Mr Munya, having previously served as an Assistant Minister for EAC, will represent Kenya well and that the former Governor is equal to the task."
"Prof Kobia's appointment comes at a time when we are establishing the Meru Youth Service. I am glad because her docket will be very significant in our plans. Prof Kaimenyi, a renowned scholar will boost Education at the UNESCO," said Kiraitu.
