Kirenga Chief, Nancy Ndung’u has warned rapists against preying on teenage girls, vowing that they will be dealt with accordingly.

Speaking at Kirenga on Wednesday, the Chief decried high number of rape cases saying that the rapists’ days are now numbered.

The chief said that her office has received three rape cases in a span of two months.

“My office has received three rape cases, one in January and two others this month. It is a serious matter and rapists should start counting their days,” warned the chief.

Ndung’u urged parents to report such cases so that action can be taken against the perpetrators.

She further cautioned parents against living their teenage girls on their own noting that rapists are taking the advantage.

The chief said that rape is a serious offence that attracts a heavy penalty on perpetrators adding that local administrators in the area will not tolerate rapists.

This comes after a 14-year-old form two student was defiled at Rorome village in Lari on Tuesday night.

According to police, the girl’s defiler is on the run and a manhunt has been launched for him.

The perpetrators is said to have taken advantage of the heavy rains during that night to commit the act and the girl’s parents are said to have travelled out the village the previous day.

The matter was reported to Lari Police Station.
