Two 23-year-old female twins have been arraigned in a Kiambu Court for allegedly ganging up and beating up a neighbour in Kirigiti, Kiambu Sub County.
The court heard that on May 22, 2015 in Kirigiti, the two accused, Mercy Njoki and Peninah Wairimu beat up Rebecca Muthoni over a dispute that emerged when they were fetching water.
The complainant is said to have woken up early that day so as to queue the line for fetching water. The first accused, Njoki is said to have been the second on the queue after Muthoni. However, allegedly, she started telling the complainant to hurry up as she was in a hurry to rush somewhere.
Muthoni did not answer her back but continued fetching water as she had five jeri cans. The first accused then pushed her jeri cans and started fetching water. On complaining, Njoki called her sister who is the second accused from the house telling her that there was someone trying to argue with her.
The second accused, Wairimu came out angered and shouting asking who that was. They both allegedly started abusing the complainant and that is when they started beating her.
Neighbours in the area came to the rescue and stopped the fight.
Muthoni got injured on her eye and nosebleed from that attack. She was attended to at a private clinic in the area and a p3 form issued hat proved that she was injured.
The twins however pleaded not guilty and Resident Magistrate Monica Kivuti adjourned the case for a hearing on the June 15, 2015.
The two were released on a cash bail of Sh20,000 each.
