An MP from Mombasa has asked both the national and county government of Mombasa to devise ways of ending rampant unemployment in Kisauni constituency.

Kisauni MP Ali Mbogo said on Sunday the high rats of youth unemployment is a recipe for chaos in one of the constituencies classified as a major drugs consumption hubs.

Mbogo, who defeated Governor Hassan Joho's close ally during the August 8 general election, Rashid Benzimba said there is need for local authorities to intervene and solve the problem before it explodes.

"You walk around and the only thing you see is youth smoking cigarettes, chewing miraa and other substances I still do not know," he said in Bamburi.

He said the initiative by Joho to invest in sports facilities is welcome but added that more efforts need to be done convince the young constituents to exploit their potential in sports.

Mbogo who was elected on a Wiper party ticket as a first time MP said youth unemployment should be tackled head on lest the country faces a crisis in the less than ten years to come.

"I salute what my brother Joho is doing but it does not end there. Leaders must go out and tell the youth smoking and idling does not help. They should make use of the available time to explot their talents and make money."
