Kisauni Member of Parliament Rashid Bedzimba has refuted claims of financing criminal groups that have been causing havoc in the region.
Responding to claims made by Coast Regional Coordinator Nelson Marwa, Bedzimba said that he is known as a leader who preaches peace and does not cause any damages.
"As your leader, how can I be happy when our women are being raped by youths and everyone in the region is living in fear of being attacked? Those tainting my good image should refrain from doing so," said Bedzimba.
Speaking while addressing a gathering outside his office on Thursday evening, the legislature vowed to initiate peace campaigns across Kisauni Constituency, in a bid to ensure that the community is living in peace.
Marwa had earlier questioned why the Kisauni legislature had not come out strongly to condemn criminal gangs in the area.
