Kisauni Member of Parliament Ali Mbogo on Monday met with the Coast regional Police Boss Larry Kieng’ over the rising insecurity in his constituency.

Mbogo said that it was evident that there was an emergence of fresh criminal gangs in the area which needed immediate intervention from security agents before they carry on with their raids in residential houses.

Mbogo said that most areas especially in Mishomoroni were reporting rising cases of crime incidents and appealed to the police to take charge of the situation.He said that gangs wielding machetes and knives were terrorizing locals in the areas and as a leader, he was sharing the same fear with locals within Kisauni constituency.

He asked Mr. Kieng’ to beef up security and increase police patrols especially in Mishomoroni, Bamburi, Mtopanga, Mwandoni and Barsheba areas where such emergence of illegal gangs were reported on a daily basis.

“Since the beginning of the year, we have been receiving reports of rising of insecurity in residential areas within Kisauni constituency, this should be tamed,” he added.

On his part, the Coast regional police Boss Larry Kieng’ assured Kisauni residents and Mr. Mbogo of fully support from security agents within Kisauni.

He said that the situation was contained some few weeks to last year August general elections where ringleaders of the ‘Wakali kwanza’ and ‘Wakali wao’ criminal gangs were arrested, though it seems crime is on the rise. 

“We are already on top of investigations and we are assuring you that we will destabilise Kisauni criminal gangs, there is no bargaining on security matters” he assured the MP.

Kieng’ who was accompanied by his deputy Akello Odhiambo at the Coast regional police headquarters in Mombasa said that Police were conducting investigations and a 24-hour patrol in a bid to curb the emergence of criminal gangs in the constituency.

Over the weekend, an armed gang raided several homes within Kadongo area in Mishomoroni stealing and injuring locals, leaving area residents living in fear.
