Kisauni Constituency in Mombasa is set for a major facelift after the Kenyan Rural Roads Authority (KERRA) set aside funds for a roads upgrade programme.In a meeting held on Thursday between Kisauni MP Ali Mbogo and the KERRA Coast regional deputy engineer Richard Ngaru, it was agreed that the Sh20.2 million project’s first phase be implemented immediately.Ngaru said that apart from the Sh20.2 million, the authority has also set aside another 9.2 million shillings for the completion of the project in the second phase.He told the Kisauni CDF committee led by its patron and Kisauni MP Ali Mbogo that the authority will be working closely with the constituency to ensure that the infrastructure in the area is upgraded.Ngaru said Kisauni was experiencing dilapidated infrastructure and the authority will work together will Mbogo to ensure that the 2017/2017 financial year project is satisfactorily accomplished.“We have given Kisauni priority because of the efforts and interest that have been shown to us by the area MP Ali Mbogo. We promised him our full cooperation in his future plans of upgrading the infrastructure in his constituency,” he said.On his part, Mbogo said that if the infrastructure in the area is improved, then most businesses in various part of the constituency will improve as well.He said that apart from smooth transport activities, residents will be able to transport their farm produce to markets as well as conduct their economic activities until late hours.“Remember this project comes with an uplift of the drainage system as well and it will ensure a safe environment for all,” he added.He said that the Sh29.4 million project will also help in containing floods during rainy season.Manooni- Vikwatani, Safari Mishomoroni, and Junda Ng’ombeni are some of the feeder roads set for the upgrade.Is there a newsworthy accident, incident or event happening in Mombasa County that you want Hivisasa to cover?
