The Kisii County Government has been put on the spotlight by the town residents over the misuse of road blocks mounted around the County executive and Assembly route at night.
Led by the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry(KNCCI)Kisii County Chairman,Benjamin Onkoba questioned the purpose of a road block mounted around Gusii Mwalimu Sacco at night,long after the official business around the Governor's office and the County Assembly.
Speaking to the press in Kisii town,Onkoba challenged the County Government's enforcement department to remove that road block immediately it clocks 5PM,which is the official hours it should conclude its business around that route.
"I have had an opportunity of driving in Nairobi's Parliament Road at night and I have never encountered the road blocks mounted around that area during the day.Immediately it clocks 5PM thne officers mounting a road block along parliament road close business of the day.Why here in Kisii you find such road block operating at nigh?"questioned Onkoba
He cited cases where the County askaris manning the Gusii Mwalimu road block harass motorists and bodaboda riders using that route at night,yet it was past the official hours of mounting such road block around that area.
"As town residents we demand that the County Government takes immediate action to protect innocent motorists and bodaboda riders using that route past 5PM from being harassed the County askaris manning that road block,perpetuating extortion under the guise of mantaining law around that area,"Stated Onkoba
