Kisii County MCAs have been recalled from recess to discuss a 'special matter' scheduled on Wednesday afternoon, Deputy Speaker Evans Mokoro has confirmed.
County assembly members had gone for recess before the assembly speaker Kerosi Ondieki summoning them for a special sitting that is suspected to be a debate on controversial 2015/16 county government expenditures.
Mokoro, who was addressing media on Tuesday, said the sitting had been gazetted in the Kenya n Gazette in compliance with the Standing Orders,
"We have recalled our MCAs for Wednesday's special sitting. It is an urgent matter that you will all see on the order paper once the assembly is on," he said.
"As the office of the speaker, we have already gazetted the special sitting in the Kenyan Gazette according to the law. We expect expect that the turn up will be high," he added.
Kisii County government was named in the Controller of Budget report in which the office accused the county of misappropriation of millions of shillings.
