A section of avocado farmers drawn from Kisii County is now accusing the county government of deceiving them to plant the fruit with the promise that there were plans of putting up an avocado processing plant.

They now say that their efforts of highly investing in the plants will not bear any fruits as the county government had not put up the factory.

"The County Government promised that the processing plant will be able to process 80 tonnes of avocados daily and that prompted us to plant the fruits but sadly there is no factory yet," said Erick Mogere the team leader.

Mr Mogere further accused the County of not informing them of the progress of the factory was going on despite setting funds aside for the same.

"The County Government should come out clearly and give an explanation as to what happened on the project because we were told that money was set aside for the same," he said.

These reactions come barely five years after the County Government of Kisii signed an agreement with a Turkish investor where Sh 15o million was set aside for the same.
