Residents of Kegogi region in Kisii County on Sunday witnessed a rare wedding that involved a blind woman and her long term lover.
Kegogi SDA compound was full of guests from across the county who turned up to cheer Ann Moraa tie the knot with Jackson Rogena.
According to Moraa, she was born normal but later went blind mysteriously when she was class five at Marani primary school in 2000 and was transferred to Thika Special School for the blind the following year.
“I was born just like any normal person till the year 2000 when things went wrong for me.
"I had to transfer to Thika to join my new schoolmates who suffered the same condition,” she said.
The 26-year-old accountant, trained at Kenyatta University, met her husband when she was in campus in 2009.
“I met Rogena at KU and he sounded a gentleman though I have never seen him. He has been caring and I thank God for bringing him to my life,” she said.
Rogena termed her a special gift from God who he could not temper with and promised to take care of her always.
“She has been like a family to me close to six years and I thank her for that. Although her condition is really difficult, she has endured many challenges and I am optimistic we will make it,” he said.
