Persons living with hearing disabilities in Kisii County have accused boda boda riders of mistreating them while trying to cross roads.
Speaking on Monday in Kisii town through their interpreter Mr Elvin Omwura, they urged boda boda riders to treat them like any other pedestrian.
“We are urging riders not to treat us like other road users. They should know that not all people can hear their warnings,” said Joseph.
They are now calling on the county government to intervene and end what they termed as frustrations from boda boda operators.
Ms Florence Moraa said that most of those boda boda riders end up abusing them by using abusive signs.
“Let people know that disability is not inability. We need to be treated in a better way especially by people in the transport sector. It is not our fault that we do not hear the warnings,” said Moraa.
