A Pentecostal church from Mosocho area in Kisii has embarked on a week of praying for suspected witches to abandon witchcraft and change for the better.
Speaking during opening of the week yesterday at Mosocho region, Pastor Jackson Ochengo said the rampant witchcraft cases in the region have annoyed residents hence the launching of one-week mission.
“We decided to embark on this special mission due to increased cases of witchcraft," he said.
"Many residents have complained to the church. Therefore, we want to spread the Gospel of Jesus so that we can change their hearts.”
The religious leader said the mission will target not only Mosocho but also neighboring areas such as Gesieka, Nyakoe and Nyasore which have not been spared either by suspected witches.
“We will not be limited to Mosocho alone. Even our neighbors from Nyakoe, Gesieka and many others have raised concern over the menace. Therefore, we will ensure all these places have received the Gospel of God,” he added.
He said besides the gospel, the Pentecostal church will be recruiting choir members from the said regions and baptising those who will confess witchcraft.
“It will also be essential if we recruit young people from those areas to make the campaign effective. Those who will be admitting the offence will be baptised.”
