The Justice and Legal Affairs Committee of the County Government of Kisii has already started investigations into the Sh9.5 million insurance cover scheme for the Kisii County MCA's.
This comes after a number of MCAs complained that they have never received any services from the insurance policy.
Speaking to the press on Monday, Koina Onyancha, who is the chairman of the Committee, said that together with his team, they will try as much as possible to establish whether there was any money that was given to the APA insurance company through an agent.
“We want to find out whether the county government paid the insurance company, and if it was paid, how much? Secondly, we want to find out why the insurance company is not giving the MCAs the much needed service,” said Onyanncha.
Onyancha, who was speaking in Kisii town, went ahead and said that the committee will also try to assess whether the agent was given any money and why it was not paid to the MCAs hospital bills.
“We have launched this investigation after quite a good number of MCAs started complaining that the insurance policy that they are supposed to be given is not being offered to them. We want to find out if there is any fishy business that is going on with the insurance issue,” added Onyancha.
He further distanced himself, together with his team, from any kind of corruption, terming such allegations as just a mere rumours.
