Speaking to HiviSasa.com on Thursday, they accused Mankone Building and Construction Company of delay tactics since the county government has reportedly released money that was meant for the project.

They said transporting farm produce especially coffee and tea was impossible due to the ongoing rains in the region. They urged the county government to intervene with immediate effect.

“Sometimes it is cumbersome for us to express our disappointments. The contractor has been doing the road for over a year now and hasn’t completed. They are actually delaying deliberately since we confirmed from the county over payment,” said Mwalimu James Arasa.

“This road is normally used by farmers to transport their farm produce. It is really painful that transportation is a major problem since this road is impassable. We are calling upon the county government to intervene and save us from this embarrassment,” said Tony Mochama.

However, Elijah Mankone who is a member of Mankone Building Company, admitted the delay but denied of any malicious or deliberate attempt to do so.

“It is true that we have delayed a bit but people must understand that it isn’t deliberate. The county released the funds late and besides, it is difficult for us to do the job in this weather condition. They have to wait till the rains reduce,” he said.
