The Kisii County leadership has been lauded by the Kisii contractors welfare association for its efforts to ensure contracts were given fairly and impartially on the basis of merit.
Led by the association’s chairperson, Osoro Mariera in Nyaronge village on Saturday, they said Kisii County had complied with the law by ensuring contacts were given in accurate and transparent manner by also ensuring that youths were given an opportunity.
They asked county constituents to support various developmental initiatives by Governor James Ongwae besides giving him time to deliver.
“I want to assure residents of Nyamira County that Kisii has compiled with legal requirements regarding awarding of contracts. The governor and his administration have worked so well and the youthful people have been the beneficiaries,” Osoro said.
“I would like to ask Kisii residents and members of the political class to ensure that the governor is given humble time to work on his promises. This is the only way we will have most projects complete in time for the sake of our people,” he added.
They asked the national government to devolve road functions to the county level since the county governments had shown the capability of maintaining roads networks in the region.
“As contactors, we want to assure the national government that we are ready to take over contraction of roads. It’s therefore essential that the function is devolved because counties have shown that they can maintain roads,” patron Miruka Makori said.
