Kisii residents have been assured of security during and after the Easter holiday.

Speaking to HiviSasa.com on Friday, Kisii County Commissioner Chege Mwangi has asked residents to embrace peace during the Easter holiday.

“I assure Kisii residents that we have put in place the necessary mechanisms to ensure there is security in these festivities. I ask residents to play their role by observing peace during Easter holiday,” Mwangi said.

He also warned those with the intentions of harming other that they will be arrested and prosecuted.

“We have deployed our security officers in all ends of the county to take charge of security and apprehend the troublemakers,” he added.

Earlier on, his Deputy Philip Soi had said there will be full security in the county but asked those engaging in alcohol consumption sot do so responsibly so that they don’t interfere with other people’s businesses.

His assurances comes a day after Al Shabaab militants stormed Garissa University on Thursday morning taking students hostage in an attack that claimed the lives of people
