[Photo/the-star.co.ke]The recent KCPE examination released by Cabinet secretary Fred Matiangi saw many girls shine in the exam than the boys in Kisii County.Sherry Obare of St. Mary Nyabururu primary boarding managed to score 433 marks out of the possible 500 marks.The 14-year-old girl who wants to be a neurosurgeon says her foundation is now secure.Sherry said that It wasn’t easy for her and she had put God first all through. "It's with a dedicated teaching staff and hard-work that we managed to pass with flying colors," said Obare.She said Ben Carson, the world-renowned neurosurgeon and author of Think Big had been her great inspiration.St Mary’s Public Boarding was among the public schools in Kisii County that posted good results in this year’s national examinations.School officials said the media seemed to had neglected to report on the performance of public schools. The school enrolled 80 candidates for the examinations and had a mean score of 343 marks.School headteacher Sister Joyce Otwori said the school has registered phenomenal performance in the short period she has been there."Our school has registered good marks for the past few years that we have been at the helm of the administration and its a good sign going forward." said the head teacher.Joyce thanked the stakeholders for helping the pupils to register good marks and this was due to committed staff and cooperation from the parents. She said that regardless of the challenges the school was facing they managed to excel.The mother of sherry, Friday Kerubo attributed the success of her daughter to God.
