Kisii County Government today, Tuesday withdrew its application at the Court of Appeal sitting in Kisii, to stop continuation of a case challenging implementation of the County Finance Act 2014/205 financial year to allow for an out of court settlement between the aggrieved parties and the County Government of Kisii.
Kisii Governor James Ongwae disclosed that he had instructed the Kisii County Attorney Julius Opiny to apply for the County's withdrawal from the case and have the matter settled out of court arbitration mechanism.
Briefing the press at the County Boardroom, Ongwae clarified that the county government decided to withdraw the case filed by members of the public challenging implementation of the Kisii County Finance Act 2014/2015, to allow room for negations out of court in a win-win situation to enhance the spirit of unity and harmony between citizens and the County Government of Kisii.
"I personally instructed the Kisii County Government to apply for withdrawal of the case challenging the implementation of the Kisii County Finance Act 2014/2015 to allow for out of court negotiations between the aggrieved parties and the county government in a win-win situation, to enhance peaceful co-existence between the county government of Kisii and its citizens,” stated Ongwae
Ongwae regretted that it was unfortunate for the government of Kisii to engage with its citizens in court battles over issues that could be resolved through negotiations and discussions, to strike a common ground for the benefit of the county and its residents.
