Kisii County is set to improve its revenue collection with the launch of a pilot automated system.
The automation will involve all revenue streams that include parking, single business permits, market dues and land rates.
Speaking on Friday at the launch Governor James Ongwae said the system gives provision to customers to make payment in cash, mobile money transfers, credit cards and self-service portal.
Three firms KCB/Riverbank Solutions, Strathmore University, and Digital savanna solutions will do the piloting for two months in the sub counties of Bonchari, Nyaribari Chache and Kitutu Chache South for a period of two months.
“We have started training our staff on the use of the system because they are the key implementors as we migrate from manual to automated systems," said Ongwae.
"The new system will help in sealing revenue leakages, increase efficiency, improve reporting and collection,” added the governor.
Nakuru, Kiambu, Nairobi counties have implemented automation and doubled their revenues.
The county aims at realising its target of Sh700 million this financial year.
