The county government of Kisii on Thursday started rehabilitating roads connecting students and the university.
This happened after they had given the responsible office 24 hours notice or else they would hold peaceful demos to express their anger. Both the boda boda operators and the students had planned to match to the governor’s office to seek attention after several previous interventions bore no fruits.
Jephnei Nyakwama, the students’ union speaker, had called for the peaceful demonstrations on Thursday 13th if the roads were not reconstructed but early today called it off after a county government’s caterpillar was spotted.
The bad state of the roads for many years has been a challenge to comrades who have complained severally due to the high cost of transport within the university premises.
Students are yet to celebrate the rehabilitation as only a fraction of the total roads were done by Thursday evening.
Fruits to reach to the responsible county government officer were unsuccessful as the campaigns are on.
