The Kisii County Government is battling a mounting PR nightmare following media interest in the sewerage crisis that the county is grappling with. The sewerage problem has triggered an outcry from the residents who want the problem promptly fixed as it poses a huge health risk to them.Kennan Miruka, Kisii County Communications Director, has responded to the negative publicity that the issue has attracted, pinning the blame on political rivals of Governor Ongwae.''We are very much aware of the sewage problem and are currently addressing it as our people are already on the ground. There are elements who are working around the clock to damage the reputation of the county government as we have found that the problem is as a result of paper bags, boulders, tree stumps and tires,'' Mr. Miruka has told the media.Mr. Miruka said that those deliberately causing the problem would be met with the full force of the law while assuring the residents that the county was bringing all the resources at its disposal to bear on the issue. The areas affected by the filth problem include Daraja Mbili Market, River Nyakomisaro, and River Riano. The National Environment Management Authority Kisii County Director Tom Togo said that the authority had been seized of the matter and was sparing no effort to address it.
