This comes after the industrial court in Kisumu stopped their salaries due to the case halting employment in the county.

The issue started when county assembly speaker Kerosi Ondieki faced the wrath of the MCAs in an impeachment motion which he survived. This led to the members heading to court where Kerosi is being blamed of hiring more than 300 employees against the recommended 71. The MCAs say this is raising the wage bill.

Leaders from across the political divide have raised concerns about how the assembly is run with one group blaming the speaker, another blaming the clerk of county assembly Nyaoga Ondieki of witch-hunt and others seeing the hand of executive  in destabilising the assembly.

Former Kisii Municipality Mayor Samuel Kenani Omwando has blamed the county government of forgetting delivering services to electorates but engaging in self-praise debates and big time corruption.

“It is money that is bringing all these differences. The issue is who can control what amount of money,” stated Omwando.

The recently employed staff who already have appointment letters feel they are being targeted by the MCAs in what they see as a plot to deny them employment.
