Kisii County has started working on feeder roads as it seeks to improve transportation within the county.

Currently, all major roads are maintained by the government and there has been heated debates to have the government release some of the roads to the counties to manage.

The consistent push and pull between the two levels of government has elicited the push for the counties to be allowed to run of these transport conduits.

The roads in Kisii are under construction while others still remain in their poor condition especially during this rain season. Re-carpeting the roads using murram around Kisii town will greatly promote business and transport.

John Fredrick Omwoyo, the Kisii County roads CEC says they will make sure the feeder roads that have not been worked on will be rehabilitated as soon as possible.

The Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KURA) in Kisii County which is under the national government is also in the process of renovating the trunk roads. The roads are dotted with potholes which is making transportation hectic.

The roads scheduled for rehabilitation include Nyamache to Borangi, Kiogoro to Rigena, Tabaka to Nyachenge, Keroka to Keroka technical are some of the roads are under construction.

The Suneka to Nyamira road is also under plan.
